LYNDA CARTER HEALTH: WONDER WOMAN STAR ‘BEGGED GOD’ FOR HELP WITH DECADES-LONG CONDITION

Lynda Carter, famous for her role as Wonder Woman, faced personal struggles behind the scenes. Her first marriage’s failure to talent manager Ron Samuels led to decades of alcoholism, which she later entered rehabilitation for during her marriage to Robert Altman. Carter has been in recovery for over 23 years, and her addiction fluctuated over the years.

Her husband’s plea prompted her to seek help at a rehabilitation center near Washington D.C. She explained, “I think I drank because there was unhappiness in my first marriage, and I would have a drink for the same reason anybody else would.”

Carter reflected on her addiction, acknowledging that those around her were aware of it despite her attempts to hide it. She mentioned the role of stress and trauma in alcohol addiction, with people often self-medicating to cope with difficult life events.

Despite her past struggles, Carter has been in recovery for over two decades and is content in her present life.
