Even experienced drivers and motorists are scared to cross this bridge

The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana, spanning nearly 24 miles, is the world’s longest continuous bridge over water. Built in 1956 and expanded in 1969, it connects New Orleans to the lake’s northern shore. For an eight-mile stretch, drivers lose sight of land, triggering fear in some motorists, requiring police escorts.

This iconic bridge has witnessed unusual events, from airplane landings to babies born mid-crossing. Though briefly challenged by China’s Jiaozhou Bay Bridge, Guinness World Records resolved the dispute by awarding Pontchartrain the title of “longest continuous bridge over water,” a record it proudly holds today.
