In a tragic incident, three firefighters lost their lives while battling a fire in a derelict house in Baltimore. The firefighters from Baltimore arrived at the scene early Monday morning, but the building collapsed on them, trapping them inside. A fourth firefighter was injured in the accident.
The victims were identified as Lieutenant Paul Butrim, firefighter and paramedic Kelsey Sadler, and EMT and firefighter Kenny Lacayo. Firefighter John McMaster survived but was in critical condition and on life support.
Dr. Thomas Scalea of Maryland Shock Trauma expressed hope for McMaster’s recovery. One firefighter was declared dead at the scene, while the other two were rushed to the hospital but could not be revived.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott expressed gratitude and respect for the fallen firefighters, calling them among the bravest in the city. The Baltimore City Fire Department posted a tribute to the victims on social media.
The cause of the building collapse is under investigation. The tragic incident has left the Baltimore community in mourning, and condolences pour in for the families of the lost heroes.
