Victoria Matosa of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, confronted adversity caused by Lipoedema, a condition leading to abnormal leg fat accumulation. This condition triggered mobility problems and cruel taunts like “penguin.” She shared, “I always had thick legs, but it started to get worse after [I started getting] my period… I started to avoid going to the beach and only [wore] leggings and jeans… distancing myself from friends out of embarrassment.”

In February 2023, her diagnosis marked a turning point toward self-acceptance, recognizing her condition was beyond her control. Victoria battled online bullying and tried numerous restrictive diets, leading to binge-eating.

Today, Victoria Matosa has triumphed over her challenges, emerging as a successful model.
