Last month, the country music world mourned Richard “Kinky” Friedman, who passed away in late June at 79. Known for his satirical band, Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys, he gained fame with songs like “They Ain’t Makin’ Jews Like Jesus Anymore.” Beyond music, he ran for governor in 2006 and twice sought the Democratic nomination for agriculture commissioner. Despite battling Parkinson’s, Friedman released 18 albums, with his final one, Circus of Life, in 2018.
