On Wednesday night, American Airlines Flight 5342 collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter over D.C., killing all 67 on board. The jet, traveling from Wichita to Reagan National Airport, crashed into the Potomac River.
Among the victims were figure skaters Everly (14) and Alydia (11), world champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, and attorney Elizabeth Keys, who died on her 33rd birthday.
President Trump called the crash “preventable,” questioning air traffic control’s role. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy echoed this, stating, “Absolutely preventable.”
The NTSB is investigating the cause. As tributes pour in, families mourn the devastating loss. Rest in peace to all who perished in this tragic accident.
