Jonathan Watson, a 41-year-old California inmate, recently confessed to killing two fellow prisoners—both convicted child molesters—using a cane. Watson, serving a life sentence for a 2009 murder, claimed in a letter to the *Mercury News* that he warned prison officials prior to the attacks, requesting a transfer due to his escalating frustration.

Watson was moved to a lower-security facility and placed in dorm-style housing, which he protested. Six days after his transfer, a child molester moved into his pod and openly watched PBS Kids, angering Watson and other inmates. Unable to ignore his impulses, Watson attacked the man he called “Molester #1” and then encountered another molester, whom he also killed, “figuring [he’d] just do everybody a favor.”

Following the attacks, Watson turned himself in to guards and confessed. He has indicated he would plead guilty if brought to trial and warned he might strike again if housed with similar inmates.
