Gas Company Issues Statement After Extensive Investigation at Gene Hackman’s Home

Netizens are actively discussing recent findings from the gas company investigating potential gas leaks and carbon monoxide at Gene Hackman’s home. On March 5, 2025, the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office and the Santa Fe Fire Department provided an update on their investigation into the tragic deaths of Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog.

The New Mexico Gas Company completed an inspection at the Hackman-Arakawa residence on March 3, 2025, after checking for gas leaks and carbon monoxide in late February. While the inspection revealed a minor gas leak (0.33% gas) at a stove burner, experts deemed it non-lethal. Other violations related to a water heater and gas log lighters were also noted. Authorities clarified these issues were not linked to the deaths. The findings were forwarded to the Office of the Medical Investigator for further analysis.

Online forums quickly reacted, with some questioning if even small gas leaks could have played a role. Others expressed concerns over the lack of clear cause of death, especially after reports contradicted initial statements about gas leaks.

Investigators continue to explore all possibilities, including a potential pacemaker failure in Hackman. Hackman’s passing, alongside Arakawa’s and the dog’s, has left many searching for answers, while Hackman’s legacy as a Hollywood icon continues to be remembered.
