Target to launch new self-checkout lane policy

Target’s new self-checkout policy is set to limit the number of items customers can purchase at these lanes to 10 or fewer. This change aims to address frustrations some shoppers have experienced with self-checkout, such as glitches and stolen items.

Target plans to open more traditional lanes staffed by team members to accommodate customers with larger purchases or those who prefer assistance. While store leaders will have the flexibility to open additional lanes as needed, express self-checkout will be available during peak shopping times.

The move comes amid rumors sparked by a TikTok video suggesting Walmart might also be reconsidering its self-checkout system. Share your thoughts on Target’s new policy in the comments on Facebook.
