Trump Announces Historic Fort Knox Inspection – “First in 82 Years”

Former President Donald Trump has announced a historic inspection of Fort Knox to verify the nation’s gold reserves. In a video shared on X, he stated, “We’re going to Fort Knox to ensure the gold is there.” This marks the first inspection of its kind in 82 years, sparking discussions about transparency and potential political motives.

Fort Knox, established in 1937, contains 147.3 million ounces of gold, valued at approximately $435 billion. Known for its secrecy, only a few inspections have occurred, notably in 1974 and 2017, to counter speculation about missing gold.

Supporters see Trump’s move as a step toward government accountability, reassuring the public about financial security. Critics, however, argue that it may be political theater, possibly intended to divert attention from other controversies or energize his base.

Security concerns have also been raised. Fort Knox’s defenses remain highly classified, and questions persist about who will be involved, what information will be disclosed, and how the authenticity of the gold will be verified.

Regardless of political views, Trump’s announcement has renewed public interest in America’s gold reserves and the broader issue of government transparency.
