Trump Reverses Biden’s Last-Minute Work-At-Home Extension For Federal Employees

Former President Donald Trump issued a memo overturning last-minute collective bargaining agreements made by the Biden administration before leaving office. The directive instructs federal agencies to reject these agreements and prohibits new ones from being created within the final 30 days of a president’s term.

The White House claimed these agreements were an attempt to constrain Trump’s policy decisions. It specifically pointed to deals involving the Department of Education, the Small Business Administration, and the Federal Trade Commission. One significant agreement, finalized in December 2024, was between Biden’s Social Security Administration and the American Federation of Government Employees, impacting 42,000 federal workers.
