Was a Note in a Restaurant Reservation Book Responsible for Maddie’s Disappearance?

Madeleine McCann’s disappearance on May 3, 2007, remains unsolved. While Kate and Gerry McCann dined nearby, their three-year-old daughter vanished from their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal. Despite extensive searches, her whereabouts are still unknown.

Kate McCann recently discovered a disturbing detail in police files. In her book, ‘Madeleine: Our Daughter’s Disappearance and the Continuing Search for Her,’ she revealed, “The note requesting our block booking was written in a staff message book, which sat on a desk at the pool reception for most of the day.”

This note, accessible to staff and possibly guests, mentioned that the McCanns left their children alone in the apartment. Kate was horrified by this revelation, believing it might have attracted unwanted attention to their situation.

Kate explained their decision: “We wanted to eat close to our apartments as we were leaving our young children alone there and checking on them intermittently.” She expressed deep regret for not using the apartment complex’s child service.

Although it’s unclear if the note played a role in Madeleine’s disappearance, the McCanns continue their relentless search for her. They hope one day they will be reunited with their beloved daughter.
